Six students from Beech High School recently traveled to Alicante, Spain April 5-14, 2010. Beech High School Spanish Teacher Jamie Greer had this to say about the adventure: "We had a marvelous time! Some activities we did include: sailed around the Mediterranean Sea, a visit to the Castillo de Santa Barbara, dance class where students learned Salsa, Merengue, and Hip Hop dance moves, a visit to the MARQ, museum of archeology, city tours, a scavenger hunt through Alicante, and we enjoyed the most amazing food such as paella, pulpo (octopus), and tortilla espanola. Students stayed with host families and raved to me about what good cooks their host mothers were! I also stayed with a host family and being a good cook must be a requirement, because my host mother was outstanding! The weather was fair, a little on the chilly side for the beach but enjoyable for exploring the city. Overall, the students enjoyed themselves for 10 days living as a Spaniard and we thankfully had safe travels, therefore I will call the trip a success. The Iceland volcano eruption occurred the day after we left Madrid on our return trip to the U.S., or else I think we would still be in Spain! So a sincere 'thank you' to all of you who prayed for our safety."
